Very Cheap tutors
$20-$30 per hour
These are often hard to find, and their quality and reliability are highly variable. However, if you are willing to invest the time, you can still find a great tutor around this price range. Keep in mind they are heavily undercharging. This could also be that they aren’t motivated by money, they don’t know how much they are worth, are not in demand, don’t have a lot of confidence, are just starting out or they are simply not good at selling themselves.
Affordable tutors
$40-$60 per hour
This is an average cost of a tutor who is generally a university student and is tutoring a number of students, but it isn’t their profession. This is not a bad thing. Students who have recently finished VCE Maths Methods are very in touch with what is needed to get a high score and because they are a similar age to the student, they will have more in common and generally be able to communicate more effectively.

A good tutoring agency will have quality tutors and if you don’t like the first tutor, they will usually have another one to try and will often look after you throughout the process. Look at the reviews to give an indication of how good they are. At this price range, we are still looking at university students, but what you are paying for is that the tutoring agency has saved you time by finding what they believe to be quality tutors.
Premium tutors
$100 or more per hour
At this range, you would expect them to be amazing but ultimately, the student is the judged of that. Try them out, if the student doesn’t like them, don’t assume it’s the fault of the student. It doesn’t matter about the credentials of a tutor, it’s about the results they can deliver and how comfortable the student is with them. Teachers who have been "Examiners" and have more experience charge this much or tutors that are renowned in certain spheres.
Want something better than a tutor?
A tutor is obviously beneficial but it might just be a band-aid to make you feel better, rather than solving the main problem you are having. There are other options you should try first that would make Maths Methods much more tolerable and get you the marks you deserve.
